1968 Fiat 124 Spider and 2017 Fiat 124 Spider

Last sold in the United States over 30 years ago, the iconic Fiat 124 Spider is back.

After much anticipation, the all-new Fiat 124 Spider arrives at FIAT studios in North America just in time for prime convertible season.  Customers will now have the opportunity to experience an Italian-designed, fun-to-drive roadster for themselves.

U.S. sales of the original Fiat 124 Spider began in 1968 and ran through 1985 – and to date, there are still 8,000 registered original Fiat 124 Spiders on the road.

Continuing the legacy of Karl Abarth’s performance-inspired vehicles known for their rich racing heritage, the 2017 Fiat 124 Spider offers up sport suspension, mechanical limited slip differential, Sport Mode selector and sport-tuned, chrome quad-tip exhaust.

Powered by a turbocharged MultiAir 1.4 liter engine, the Fiat 124 Spider is the heir of the roadster that drove Fiat to its first European Rally Championship win in the 1970s. Applying the Abarth formula, the new 124 Spider is designed and built for thrills and performance. Key Abarth features include rear-wheel drive, a sophisticated suspension and a four-cylinder turbocharged MultiAir 1.4 Turbo engine with best-in-class 160 horsepower that is available with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shift.

Moreover, the Fiat 124 Spider has a double-wishbone front suspension and rear multi-link suspension with stabilizer bars, and tuned electric-power steering system for enhanced handling and fuel efficiency. Available safety features include Blind-spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Path detection and ParkView rear backup camera. Available technology and convenience features include passive entry with keyless go, Bluetooth connectivity, heated seats, and FIAT Connect with access to Pandora, Stitcher and Aha apps.

After making its debut nearly 50 years ago in Turin, Italy, the reimagined 2017 Fiat 124 Spider is well-worth a look.
